what is sled hockey?
Sled hockey was invented in Sweden at a rehabilitation center in the 1960s by a group who still wanted to play hockey despite their disabilities.
Players sit in sleds that sit on top of two skate blades. There are two sticks for each player that have metal pics on the end for players to push themselves.
Sled hockey uses most of the traditional ice hockey rules with some changes in some of the equipment
Goalies wear the same equipment but have modifications to the gloves. Metal picks are also screwed in the backside to allow the goalie to move in any direction.
Sled hockey provides the opportunity for everyone to play hockey in a fast pace or recreation environment.
